TVC NEWS [ABUJA]- Delegates to the Nigeria's national conference are polarised on a recommendation to remove fuel subsidy.
The committee on public finance and revenue had in its presentation suggested that the government should stop subsidising petrol as it only benefits a few.
But it's a position that has meet with stiff resistance from many delegates especially those representing Labour and Civil society.
Kelechi Emekalam‎ reports that committee on public finance and ‎revenue among several other recommendations, is pushing for the
removal of oil subsidy.
While a few delegates seem to buy the idea, many others including those representing labour and civil society organisations, are not willing to let it go by.
It's a recommendation to which they're strongly averse.
The organised labour had led a major uprising In January 2012, when the government attempted a total removal of oil subsidy and it's unlikely that they would be convinced on the position of the committee this time round.
